The NTT Communications Tseung Kwan O Data Center, situated at Route Twisk, Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong, is a facility with a comprehensive suite of certifications, including HIPAA, HITECH, PCI-DSS, ISAE-3402, SSAE-16 Type 1, ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3. While specific details regarding the gross building size, gross colocation space, and power information for this particular location are not available, it is noteworthy that 69 other data center locations have been identified within a 50-mile radius of this facility.
Our state-of-the-art data center in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, is a monumental project valued at HK$4 billion ($516 million). This expansive facility comprises two data center towers and a dedicated command and control tower, encompassing over 70,000 square meters of space. The first phase, FDC1, launched in May 2013 with 3,000 racks, and the recently introduced FDC2 significantly boosts our capacity to 7,000 racks. Beyond sheer volume, FDC2 offers uniquely tall racks, up to 54U, surpassing the industry standard of 42U-45U. We prioritize energy efficiency through advanced technologies, including Hong Kong’s largest thermal energy storage system, which provides an impressive 42 minutes of uninterrupted cooling. Our lighting is sensor-controlled and powered by DC power over Ethernet (POE), further reducing energy consumption and enhancing safety. With a projected annualized Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.5 at full load, FDC2 is expected to achieve a 15% improvement in energy efficiency.
